Throughout this whole chronic pain escapade, I've had a hard time accepting that there isn't gonna be a quick fix for my aches. Even though I know that there isn't a magic pill that will "cure" my condition, it's hard for me not to wish for a different scenario. Here is a brief comic about just that:
PS. Thanks to everyone for all of the kind words and helpful tips! XOXO
PPS. Sorry I spelled "Rheumatology" wrong in the last comic, that shit is hard to spell.

Marissa,
It's not all in your head. Nobody knows you like you know yourself. Thanks for being an awesome friend. Love you

Also I look like the Ice Wizard. :)
It's only a matter of time now till you get results. This reminds me of what I read in this Nirvana biography a while ago about how Cobain had some unknown ailment too. Apparently his stomach would hurt real bad and he'd hardly eat anything w/o throwing it all up again. It said he felt better only when performing. Doctors were baffled, and it took him 2 or 3 years to get it fixed. Apparently, one doctor realized that it was associated w/ the scoliosis he had- his spine was pinching a nerve leading to his stomach. Then they fixed it! Sorry, that bio was so good, I absorbed it all. I think I'm trying to say that maybe not everyone is lucky enough to fix a mystery illness, but the more times you try, the closer you get to finding answers. Good luck, Marissa, you're such a trooper!

Could it be lymes disease?
Hey gal. I've got the ol' Thoracic Outlet Syndrome too, and I'll be linking you to the Stickers song about it, entitled "Outlet" (chorus "human swan") the moment we finish recording it. Stay loose. XO. Gabi
Couple of big fans in Chicago just want to wish you all the best. Take all the time you need to get right.
This isn't in your head and you are not crazy. Take care of yourself and find what works for you. I was also diagnosed with thoracic outlet back in '01, after developing a blood clot in my right shoulder at the age of 30. There is a surgery but it is pretty invasive. (They cut out part of the rib bone.) I never had that surgery, but I also don't try hauling tons of river rock by wheelbarrow in a single day. If I have to do a lot of heavy lifting I take good old aspirin and stretch out the muscles.
Again, you have to find what works for you and your lifestyle. I hope you're feeling better.
i fractured my tail bone and had a pinched nerve for yeeeears, plus sciatica and lots of arm pain, fire/burning type pain. it took some time to leave my body but with (some) self discipline and the works of a lovely chiropractor that specifically used the torque release technique, i am like new. if i could suggest, look around for chiropractors that use this technique, it's low impact, nerve work.
