Screamales en espanol!

La menuda Marissa Paternoster se agiganta cuando cuelga de su cuello una guitarra y empieza a escupir solos incendiarios, rodeada de pedales a la par que canta. También dibuja. De esta pequeña fiera son las ilustraciones que aparecen en sus discos, flyers o su propia web. Lo mamó desde la cuna: su madre, profesora de arte, la familiarizó con Diane Arbus, Basquiat, el punk rock y la política de izquierdas.

Junto a Mike (bajista) y Jarrett (batería) forma Screaming Females, un trío radicado New Brunswick, New Jersey, con una media que apenas roza los veinte años, y que hace una mezcla de post-punk/queercore/blues-rock sucio, directo y honrado. De pueblo pequeño. De giras en sótanos asfixiantes con el público desbocado porque su auténtica dimensión la ofrecen cuando se suben a un escenario.

Acaba de salir su segundo álbum, "What If Someone Is Watching Their TV", del que te puedes bajar algunas canciones en su MySpace.

The tiny Marissa Paternoster becomes gigantic when a guitar hangs from her neck and spits out flaming solos, surrounded by pedals as she sings. She also draws. From this tiny inferno, come the drawings that appear in her records, flyers and web site. (the next line literally translates to: 'she sucked on the teat of it from the cradle' but really just means 'she grew up with it.') Her mother, an art professor, familiarized her with Diane Arbus, Basquiat, punk rock and leftist politics.

Along with Mike (bassist) and Jarrett (drummer) she makes Screaming Females, a trio based out of New Brunswick, New Jersey, with an average [age] that barely exceeds 20 and that plays a mix of post-punk/queercore/blues-rock dirty, straight forward and honest. From a small town. From stuffy basement tours with speechless audiences because their authentic dimension they offer when they get on stage. (those last two lines are a little weird to translate, they make more sense in spanish though.)
