NYC Show, Out Of The Basement Podcast, and a Response

Hello!
A few things.

1. We will be playing our first show in 4 months on Feb 9, 2013 at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY as part of the Don Giovanni Records 10 Year Anniversary Showcase.
Facebook event here - http://www.facebook.com/events/346747058757473/348167695282076/
tickets - http://www.musichallofwilliamsburg.com/event/195515
There are a limited number of 2 day passes, so grab those before they are gone.

2. I, Jarrett D, have a new podcast called 'Out Of The Basement' and the first episode is up! I am going to be having in-depth conversations with punk rockers about their lives and experiences in the music world. Hopefully there will be new episodes every two weeks.

3. I have been trying to figure out how, and if, I should respond to the trolls commenting on my update. I don't want to waste a lot of time with this but I would like to say a few things.
a. I wasn't complaining or looking for pity. I was telling the truth as I felt it.
b. I don't mind work. For the last 7 or more years I have worked on Screaming Females as a full-time job (while often having wage jobs to support myself). Regardless of what these trolls may think, being a musician is how many people are employed. Beyond that, self-managed full-time bands require a ton of work outside of playing and creating. I worked essentially full-time hours making phone calls, sending emails, writing and filing contracts, doing finances and taxes, etc. Having to once again be employed by an outside party takes me away from a job I enjoy and have developed skills in. Being away from my "desk" also requires that we, as the band, sacrifice possibilities because I can't focus on my duties as "manager." Once again, I'm not complaining. I am simply telling the truth.
c. If you are disgruntled enough to spend your time trolling our blog, I feel for you. I understand that life is fucked up and depressing. I am not the cause of that. I challenge you to educate yourself about the system we live within and what it does to the individuals involved. I'll leave you with a quote from a book I am currently reading by Karl Marx (though I am not a Marxist) that explains at least some of this better than I can hope to.
"...the worker becomes ever more exclusively dependent on labour, and on a particular, very one-sided, machine-like labour. Just as he is thus dependent on every fluctuation in market-price, on the application of capitals, and on the mood of the rich. Equally, the increase in the class of people wholly dependent on work intensifies competition among them... their competition among themselves has become all the more intense, unnatural, and violent." -Karl Marx 'Economic And Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844'

I'm 95% sure I pass by the furniture store you mentioned everyday on my way to work. Also could rap for pages for what you mentioned. Maybe one day in person~
It actually make me feel OK. I get the shakes if I don't 'tend' my art for days and only thing that helps is being able to talk about it. In this case reading about someone who feels the same.

I'll have to check out that podcast...sounds pretty cool. As for the trolls...you responded to them fairly well but I think it's best to just ignore them. They're going to say what they're going to say no matter what. Shitheads.
