So we officially have a summer tour. I mean, right now it is only one show but I am pretty excited. Screaming Females will be playing Durham, NC in late June of 2006. How sweet is that?
So the New Brunswick Police are apparently on a war path. Abdab has gotten a ticket, 35 Plum St has gotten a ticket, some other guy I know got a ticket. 2 out of 3 of those were before 10:00. It is all total BS. The ordinance they are using isn't meant to apply to live performances but as long as the police and judges are working together it just means more money for the city. New Brunswick will never have a 'scene' that anyone outside of NJ cares about. I was just talking to Marissa today about how there are bands from other states that I would love to trade shows with but I have nothing to offer them. Why would a half decent band want to come play a show that might be broken up by the cops? The NBPD stopped our set at fiffe's performance and then wrote our house a ticket because of the after party! Twice in one night! The after party ticket was probably called for but it just adds to the serious feeling of oppression.

There was a little snafu with our 7 inch that god willing is worked out. What should we all learn from this? Don't trust anything! Check it, double check it, triple check it! Someone inevitably messed something up.
Ted Leo is a fucking god! Why didn't someone tell me this like 5 years ago? Finally picked up Shake the Sheets and now I know why everyone was freaking out about this album 2 years ago. Jesus! This man rocks the world. I haven't really been able to confirm it but this dude has Jersey written all over him. I can't tell if he grew up here or what but the NJ stink is unmistakable.
Porters and Stouts are good on rainy days. Just ask the Irish.
I realized in the shower today that I am the drummer from Screaming Females. I know you are all like "Duh" but hear me out. This is currently my place in the world. I am only one thing to most everyone. I am not "the guy who rides that bike" or "the guy with that coat" or "the dude with the hair cut" or "that girl's boyfriend." I am the backbeat to Screaming Females. When I have a weekend where there is a lack of Screaming Females projects I am at a loss. I am bored. I am useless. Combine this with New Brunswick's crusade against artist expression and drunken waste of talent, and you get my current state of being. All my life I have been ready for the next thing. I never worry about leaving today because I am already feeling next week. I can't wait to get out of this town and be a drummer. Tour the planet. Rock unknown bodies in unknown lands. That is who I am. That is what I need to do. It is what I can give.
We have 2 new songs in the works. They are the best things we have ever done. One is going to be the summer song of 2006 and the other is an epic. Get ready. Y'all are going to shit yourselves when you hear these ones.
